PLEASE NOTE: These are not complete instructions on how to open up an early style SLS pump and properly reseal it. Rather, these are some tips that will make the job go faster and easier. These are things Kent has learned rebuilding a number of these pumps himself.

This is a BIG problem! Failure to fix it can shorten engine life by allowing dirt to enter the combustion chambers thus damaging the piston rings which lead to low compression, poor fuel economy, hard starting, high oil consumption and loss of power.

Kent will explain the theory of operation in simple terms, why it is so important for proper transmission shifting performance, and how to test it hooked up to the engine's vacuum system with the engine running.
