In this video instruction, Kent will demonstrate how to check for one possible source of a mysterious front end clunking sound. Any clunking noise you hear when driving over rough ground or when braking should be investigated immediately.
After years of "fighting" fuse replacement, Kent finally decided he had had enough! And so was born another special tool. It is designed to securely grab hold of a ceramic fuse, remove it from it, and replace it with minimal exertion and no damage.
These are the instructions that come with Kent's brake pad and brake caliper service kit. It is possible to make your own service kit by watching this video. To purchase the kit see related products below. To learn more about the importance of this kit watch the video below:
Brakes are one of the most often neglected maintenance items on older cars. This is not just related to Mercedes Benz. Most owners don’t realize that brakes need special attention and service not only when pads are changed but every 2 years.
If you have a 1985 or older Mercedes Benz it is time you flush that old automatic transmission fluid out of the system and replace it with a good power steering fluid. ATF formulations have changed over the past 20 years.
This is a very good set of four used special bolts that have good undamaged hex heads.

Kent put together the three most important products you will need to use his pressurized method of setting the critical timing on your diesel engine injection pump. This is often negelected and when corrected can lead to faster starts, better fuel economy and less engine smoke.
This one hour long on demand video is included free with the purchase of Kent's OM61x injection pump timing kit. The method he teaches uses his own kit, his custom built pressure tank, and his special IP snake wrench.
Another wrench designed by Kent Bergsma and born out of frustration. This could be the weirdest wrench anywhere in the world! While shooting a video on adjusting the injection pump timing on an older Mercedes diesel Kent ran into a big problem.

Removing the tilting sunroof panel is a little bit of a mystery to many owners. Since there are no exposed fasteners, at first glance it can appear to be very difficult to remove.
Indications that your seal needs replacing are tears in the lip and no resistance when you close your trunk. If you trunk snaps shut too easily it means the seal has collapsed and is no longer sealing properly.
Very good disk steel wheel . Straight and no damage. These will require the full disk 14-inch hubcaps as well as the short lug bolts. The long lug bolts from the alloy wheels will not work. Does NOT include lug bolts. See related parts to order separately.

If you have a 1969 to 1985 4 or 5 cylinder diesel (except the 1984-85 190D) you may have already noticed it is hard to get the valve cover totally sealed from weeping oil stains coming out the bottom or top of the valve cover gasket.
These are the instructions that are included free with all of our Rear Subframe Mount Replacement kits. If you are interersted in seeing what this job entails, or you have the parts already, then these downloadable instructions are great.
During his years of working on diesel engines, Kent has learned a few things about glow plugs. Some he learned the easy way and others he learned by “pain and suffering.” If misunderstood or improperly maintained, glow plugs can be the “achilles heal” of a diesel.
Book 1 explains how a series pre-glow system works and how to properly test it using inexpensive electrical testing equipment. If your glow plugs are not working you need to find the cause BEFORE you start buying parts. This is something you can do yourself.
If a car has sat outside in the elements for long periods and has not been washed or waxed in months there are some things you need to do BEFORE you apply the buffer to the body and the final wax to the paint. This is where you will need some real "elbow grease."
Wheel bearing maintenance and service should not be neglected. If you are hearing strange rumbling noises up front while driving you should check your wheel bearings. Replacing them is not a diffiuclt D.I.Y. job if you have the right knowledge and tools.
When you are out looking to buy an older Mercedes in this time period you have to be careful. You have heard that these old Benz (particularly the diesels) can go forever! So why is mileage that important. Because contrary to those "myths" they do not go forever without impeccable maintenance.
If your engine is just running hot, it may be due to a plugged radiator or possibly a stuck thermostat. If your engine is just losing coolant it could be a leak in the water pump, radiator or hoses.
In this video Kent will show you how to rid your car of those less than attractive rock chips and other paint flaws from door dings and general scratches. He will walk you through the paint and supplies you will need and then demonstrate step-by-step using a 2000 S500 and a 2000 E320 wagon.
In this video Kent explains some of the key reasons for poor battery contact and loss of voltage to important electrical components. If you want your later model Mercedes to run a peak performance pay attention to your battery.
When Kent set out to find a good fender cover for his own use he and Kaia decided to make it available to our customers. Who doesn't like a good soft fender cover that stays in place? We know red shows the grease more than black but you have to admit these are a knockout!
The Monark nozzles #120 are all gone, never to be remade. We do have a few hundred #128 nozzles still available. Kent and Kaia got together and started questioning why they would not work in the OM616 and OM617 engines. So in May of 2024 Kent decided to put them to the test.

These five page step-by-step illustrated instructions will walk you through the correct procedure of removing your old worn and cracked door lock rubber diaphragms from the actuator housing and replacing them with new ones. These are procedural instructions only.
These seals are not only cosmetic but they also provide a seal to minimize the amount of rain water getting down inside the doors on an older Mercedes.
For all 114/115 chassis 220D 240D and 300D models with vacuum door locks built from 1968 to 1976. Now you can finally fix those pesky vacuum door locks yourself! Failure is almost always caused by vacuum leaks in the system.

Running badly means poor performance. It happens sooner or later to EVERY diesel owner. The word "performance" is often used to describe how well a diesel engine runs once started. The principles discussed will cover all Mercedes diesels from the mid 1950s to the mid 1990s.
A diesel compression test is an extremely important engine diagnostic procedure. It should be done on any diesel you are planning to purchase. More than any other test, it can tell you if you are purchasing a healthy engine.
