When an old Mercedes ( or any other car for that matter ) has sat idle for over a year it can be a challenge to get it safely back on the road again. If it has sat idle for more than 5 years you may find it difficult to even get the engine running.
In this 10 minute video class Kent shows you what you should initially look for when checking out an older Mercedes for sale. He routinely does a quick 3 to 5 minute walk around to determine if the car passes his priority three part test.

There is nothing better than a good buff and wax to bring out the shine on an old Benz. Particularly if the car has not been waxed in a couple years! The results are directly related to the amount of work you put into it.
In this video Kent shares his secrets on how to make the inside of an old Benz look like new again. Now granted, you must have a reasonably good car to start with. He is not going to show you how to reupholster, change seats and door panels, etc.

For 1973 owners: make sure your cap matches the one in the picture ( all orange). Wires are soft and flexible. You can see very little wear inside the cap.

It would be near impossible to find a better one. There is not even any crazing in the plastic and the fact that the top of the wheel is not cracked shows the car had been garaged. Kent has had this in storage for over 20 years. It came of a low mileage W111 couple.

The wiring plug covers must be removed with a special tool in order to install these boots. The old covers will break when you try to remove them. We recommend you buy new wiring covers when replacing either my aftermarket custom-made silicone boots or the original rubber boots.
You can use these to remove the wires and just replace the plug cover on your D-Jet V8 engine. Most of the originals are brittle or broken due to heat. As an alternative you can use butt connectors and wire them into your existing harness.
The power window is stuck closed. Do the tests outlined in this video first. You may have to remove the regulator and to do that; you have to lower the window. But how???

On most D-jetronic engines, the fuel injector wiring plugs are hard and brittle and the boots are torn or missing altogether. You may say, "If it is working, why fix it? Watch the videos below to understand why this is important and how easy it would be for you to do it yourself.

These old power non-tilting sunroofs are now 45-plus years old. These are specifically the sunroofs that used the early-style rectangular sunroof motor and separate drive mechanism connected by a rubber drive bushing. They did not come with deflector air dams.
Only one is available. Tested. Note that the plug has been cut off at the end of the wiring, so you will need to slice in your own plug.

This is the FIRST thing you should do on your D-Jet V8 engine. Rather than explain everything in this kit and what it can do for you, watch Kent's YouTube video below. If you don't do this, you will be guessing and spending money forever trying to get the engine to run right!
Did the engine just quit? Does it just not start even with prolonged cranking? What could it be? The first thing you want to determine with most older cars is whether there is spark to the plugs.
Very good condition. Has all three pins on the back side intact along with the original spring clips.
Good used 3.5 emblem. This emblem is located on rear of the trunk on the right side of all 280SE, 280SEL, and 300SEL 3.5s produced between 1970 and 1971.
These are near mint, but I can't say they are mint because I striped the outside paint off and there is the tiniest scratch on the edge of one cap. No dents anywhere. But they are show quality and needed if you are showing an old Benz that had original steel hubcaps.
For repairing non-structural areas only with Miracle Paint and fiberglass.
These two types of fiberglass can bridge over small to medium rust holes and give a lasting repair to what otherwise becomes a very time-consuming and expensive repair.
The original fuel filter has a rigid right-angle fitting, as shown in the pictures below. We do not provide this fitting in our fuel delivery kits as more often than not it can be removed from your old filter and installed in the new filter we provide.
When removing valve covers or changing wires, replace these with new ones. They may look good, but they usually break due to engine heat and age.

Testing fuel pressure is a simple procedure on the D-Jetronic engines, but it is absolutely essential.
In this 32-minute, very detailed video, Kent will show you how you can fix some heavy rust pitting and small rust-out holes in the trunk of your classic Benz. This technique also works on floors and under body panels.
Rusty, pitted metal can be pretty ugly, even if you paint over it. If you try to fill it with regular Bondo, that will not work long-term.
GENUINE MERCEDES FRONT SUNROOF SEAL
In this video, Kent will show you the tricks of getting the front sunroof seal installed without pulling your hair out. It will require the tool shown that is included with the purchase of the front seal.

If you plan to replace, test, or service your electronic fuel injectors you first must determine which bottom seals you will need. If you have a 1970 or 1973 model, you most likely have the single-bottom seal (unless your engine has been changed).
